Combining music, photos, videos and graphic design all together, "MammaLiTurki!" is the new multimedia project from DJ Nio. The Beat Tape and the EP are a taste of the Italian-born DJ and Beat Maker’s experiences over the past few years in his recently adopted country of Turkey.
DJ Nio, the co-founder of the Old School Italian rap group Zero Plastica, is also a collaborator for the New York based indie label Nomadic Wax. He is a Hip Hop artist from Genova with over twenty years experience performing all over the world, from the United States to the Caribbean to Istanbul.
In 2016, DJ Nio moved to Turkey despite the tense political climate of the time. Upon his arrival, he immediately began collaborating with local musicians and was invited to join the Beton Orman artistic collective (“Concrete Jungle” in Turkish). He began creating music inspired by Turkey’s rich cultural history, the Bosphorus, and the megacity that is Istanbul.
With help and guidance from the local musicians and artists he met, DJ Nio was able to sample old Turkish records as he began creating “MammaLiTurki!”. This Beat Tape itself contains fifteen instrumental tracks that transport you directly to ancient Constantinople, one of the most beautiful and incredible ancient cities in the world.
The “MammaLiTurki!” project also includes other 2 Beat Tapes. This first Chapter -which you can listen here- will be printed and distributed by Greek label Nebuki Tapes. In addition, the project includes a photo book and a documentary film, all produced in Istanbul just before the world was effected by the 2020 pandemic.

Dj Nio has been touring with international Festivals around U.S., Cuba, Europe, Senegal and Mauritania, opening for DJ Kool Herc, KRS One, Shaggy, Alborosie, Jean Grae, Oddisee, and George Clinton f. Parliament & Funkadelic among the others.
He also collaborated with Sa-Roc, Invincible, Ceschi, Kokayi, Nomadic Massive, Omar Offendum, Danay Suarez and many more.
